Training in the pool in the summer is a dream come true. Trust us, take a break from your usual fitness routine and jump in the pool and no, we are not just talking about swimming.

With the buoyancy and resistance of water, you can perform a wide variety of exercises that are low impact and light on your joints while still working every muscle group in your body. This helps build strength, endurance, and flexibility.

Here are some of the best swimming exercises for a full body workout:

Walk in water

Walking or jogging in water is a great way to increase your heart rate. It primarily works the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, and core muscles. Obstacles in the water add an extra challenge, making this exercise more effective than walking or jogging on land.

Water dumbbell exercises

Add resistance to your workout by using dumbbells in the water. They are great for your arms, chest and back muscles. You can do either exercise by standing in chest-deep water with your arms straight and palms facing in. Lower your arms until they are at your sides then raise them again until they reach shoulder height.

Water crashes

Lunges are a great way to work your legs and buttocks. Doing it in the water adds an extra challenge. To do a water lunge, stand waist-deep in water with your feet hip-width apart. Step forward with one leg and lower your body until your knee forms a 90 degree angle. Push back to the starting position and repeat with the other leg. This exercise primarily works the quadriceps, hamstrings and glutes.

Water aerobics

Low impact exercise that is easy on the joints. This involves performing various movements in the water, such as jumping jacks, knee raises, and leg kicks. Water aerobics works the entire body, including the arms, legs, and core muscles.

Vibrating kick

This exercise trains the core, hips and legs while increasing endurance. To do a flutter kick, hold on to the pool wall or use a pool noodle as support. Lift each leg up and down alternately in a scissor-like motion, keeping the legs straight.

Remember to warm up before starting your pool workout routine and adjust the intensity and repetitions based on your fitness level.
